Treasury International Capital System

Synonyms: TICS, TIC

Treasury International Capital (“TIC”) is a set of data produced by the U.S. Treasury which is used to measure the flow of capital in and out of the United States. This data includes the purchase and sale of securities and financial instruments by a raft of entities, including the government, central bank, corporations etc.

At a basic level, TIC is how the U.S. government is able to track the flow of capital in and out of the United States. It is also used as an indicator to help analysts understand and make predictions about the direction the U.S. dollar is heading.
