British P.M Boris Johnson moved to Intensive Care as the Country Records Highest Daily Death Toll

Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s has been moved into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as his health has continued to worsen since being hospitalised with COVID19.

Johnson’s office says it is purely a precautionary measure as he is currently conscious and does not require ventilation. He was diagnosed with COVID19 on March 26 and is the only known world leader to have contracted the fatal illness.

“Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital” his office said in a statement.

There appears to be some contradictory reporting as the Times confirmed he has received oxygen. Either way, medical professionals are in agreement that the transfer, precautionary or not, is a clear signal the P.M is extremely sick and needs urgent assistance.

Before heading to hospital, Mr Johnson asked his Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, to deputise for him “where necessary”.

Mr Raab said he is “confident” Boris Johnson will recover from coronavirus, describing the prime minister as a “fighter”.

The news comes just as the UK recorded its highest daily death toll from the Virus, rising 786 in a day to a total of 6,159. 

Mr Johnson’s absence poses the question of who is in charge of the party. Unsurprisingly, the Government is trying to demonstrate a unified force under Mr Raab.

Yet each day Mr Johnson remains in ICU is another day important decisions are delayed.
