In February 2025, Hyperliquid launched HyperEVM on mainnet, making its custom Layer 1 fully EVM-compatible. Developers can now deploy Solidity smart contracts directly on the Hyperliquid L1, accessing the same high-performance infrastructure that powers the exchange. This marks the transition from a single-product perp DEX to a general-purpose, high-speed blockchain ecosystem.
HyperEVM enables any EVM-compatible dApp - lending protocols, perpetuals frontends, yield vaults - to run on Hyperliquid's L1 with sub-second finality and 100,000 TPS throughput. Crucially, HyperEVM shares block space with the core exchange, meaning native USDC, HYPE, and any spot assets listed on Hyperliquid are immediately available to smart contracts without bridging. Early dApps launched on day one include lending protocols and liquidity vaults. The launch was fully self-funded with no VC involvement, consistent with the team's ethos.
