VPS (Virtual Private Server)
A VPS runs your trading platform and EAs 24/7 on a data-center server, removing your computer, internet and power from the execution chain.
A VPS runs your platform and EAs 24/7 on a data-center server near the broker, removing home power, internet and hardware failures from execution. Most serious automated traders use one.
A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a rented server that runs your trading platform and Expert Advisors around the clock, close to your broker's servers. It removes the failure points of a home setup: your computer crashing, internet dropping, power cuts and sleep mode. VPS latency to the broker is typically far lower than a home connection. It is effectively mandatory for serious automated trading, and many brokers offer free VPS to accounts above a minimum deposit or volume.
How It Works
- Rented server hosting the trading terminal
- Runs continuously with datacenter power and connectivity
- Low latency to the broker's servers
Trading Tips
Choose a VPS in the same region as your broker's servers
Check the broker's free-VPS criteria before paying for one
A VPS fixes uptime, not strategy quality - monitor the EA anyway
